On the ocean that hollows the rocks where ye dwell, A shadowy land has appeared, as they tell; Men thought it a region of sunshine and rest, And they called it Hy-Brasail the isle of the blest.
Gerald Griffin,1888 (Project Gutenberg - Tales of the Enchanted Islands of the Atlantic)

Overview
I joined the research group in September 2000, after studying for my undergraduate degree in the university and I'm currently researching my PhD thesis.

My principal research interests are Auditory Displays and Human Computer Interaction, which means that I design cool technology with a user oriented perspective, this includes how they use it and the consequences of it for how they live and work. Click on "Research" above for more information, and a list of current and potential projects. I've been involved in several projects along these lines: SOb, SHAPE and currently MMS.

As well as being involved in too many internal activities, I am also involved in too many external ones. I've developed a reputation for editing proceedings and edited or part edited the DAFx-01, NIME-02 and ICAD-03 conference proceedings. I've also served as an assistant for the ICSE conference in 2000 and the DAFx-01 conferences which were hosted by the University of Limerick. Currently I am helping in organising the 2005 ICAD conference which will be held in University of Limerick.

I'm someone whose idea of a whole-body workout is to visit the University's gym twice a week. However, I have occasionally been spotted in a kayak. Watch out if you see me, because I'm probably not in control.
